*The Disappearance of Old People [031124-26]

Recently, I feel many people who experienced World War 2 pass away. When I was a boy, adult people always talked about the topic of the War. Only young people, who are belong to Baby Boomer Generation, and we did not know how the War had been. Now, however, the people who know the War are rare. Elder people who are now in 50’s are ignorant of the memory of the War as before. Are they so busy to live through now? But I cannot forget the memory!

In this year, two important persons who experienced the age of distress passed away: AMAMOTO Hideyo and KOTEGAWA Michirou. Both graduated from the No. 7 High School in old educational system before World War 2. Compared with the students who graduated from the schools in new system, old students were prior to them both in fundamental education and the ability of foreigner languages. Mr. AMAMOTO was famous for ‘Loco de Espanola (Spanish maniac)’ and spoke Spanish frequently. Old students had the ability to consider something more radically than present students.

After the disappearing old ages, human knowledge declines day by day. Although many people deal with the social problems in academism, only few people can find key idea to solve them. Most of them are only collectors and arrangers of knowledge. This is because they do not find actual field to consider something. Before World War 2, intelligent people suffered from the confrontation with western civilization. They had confidence they had the ability of culture, though do not have enough power of civilization. However, now, Japanese people are losing the cultural ability with the power of economic civilized power.

Aphorism

[031104]
How to balance between economic prosperity and cultural modesty is most significant problem now. Especially, in Asia Pacific areas where economic are growing, it may cause serous trouble in future, if we do not consider this problem earnestly.

[031123]
Each local has each possibility for future, but the people who live in each do not recognize their ability. However, the dialogue with others enables them to notice their future.

[031127]
What I fear is people tend to look for some answers out of them. Without thinking by themselves, it is impossible to find some solution. Nevertheless, they seek for an  answer that someone prepared for them. They look for knowledge without wisdom. They are blind people who ask someone to guide them. They will not open their eyes, even though they have ability to see.
