SEMINAR IN MOSCOW |

Before the first seminar there was an opening ceremony at which Uno Sensei presented the certificate from the Japanese Aikido Association which is given to those groups who wish to establish an official branch of the JAA. The Russian students entrusted Uno Sensei to become their official Sensei and presented him with a document as the official Sensei for the Public Organisation for the Tomiki Aikido Fedeartion. At the seminar held in Moscow there were approximately 30 instructors and senior members. Mr.Tokmakov informed Uno Sensei that there were approximately 100 students practising Tomiki Aikido in Moscow, including juniors. |

Sunday July 26th The content of the first seminar was the importance of direction of movement and how to concentrate power. The next item was the 17 basic randori no kata. Uno Sensei and Noma Sensei then demonstated the 50 techniques of Koryu dai san kata. The seminars were held from 18:00 p.m.to 21:00 p.m. There were about 30 senior members in attendance. |

Monday July 27th Contents of this seminar were the 10 Ura-waza and the Nana-hon-no-kuzushi and the continuation of techniques for randori. Hiki-tate-geiko and prepartion for the examination for 1st and 2nd dan. |

Tuesday July 28th Seminar content consisted of explanation of competition rules with the students pactised the rolls of referees and judges. The next seminar consisted of examination for 1st and 2nd dan. |

| It is Uno Sensei's opinion the movements of the students were soft and flowing and extremely beautiful but they have to learn the combination between soft flowing movement and application of kuzushi against both the quick and slow moving player. He truly believed that the students would very quickly develop into good Tomiki Aikido Players. |

SEMINAR IN KURSK |

The next seminar took place in Kursk.
This was a nine hour, over-night train jouney from Moscow. When Uno Sensei arrived in Kursk it was 6:00 a.m.in the morning. He was very surprised when he was met by around 100 members and was brought very close to tears by the warm greeting he received. He remarked that Mr.Igor, the senior Aikido representative in Kursk expressed a deep and lasting passion for Tomiki Aikido. The venue for these seminars was Kursk Olympic Centre Dinamo. |

Saturday August 1st This first seminar was four hour session from 10:00 a.m.until 2:00 p.m. and there were 100 sudents in attendance. Once again there was an opening ceremony which followed the same lines as in Moscow. Uno Sensei met the Mayor and presented a good will message from the Mayor of Imabari. The first Seminar opened with Uno Sensei and Noma Sensei demonstrating Koryu dai san. This was filmed by the Kursk television poeple. Uno Sensei demonstrated the principle of unsoku and tegatana taiso. The students practiced on how to maintain eyes contract and how to keep natural posture. They were also instructed on how to use breath control and how to improve their Ukemi. The seminar concluded with the students practising the first ten techniques of the Randori-no-kata. |

Sunday August 2nd At this second seminar consisted of instruction on the last seven of the Randori-no-kata. Plus the ten Urawaza and Kuzushi-no-kata. The seminar concluded with the students practising kakari-geiko. |

Monday August 3rd This was held at a different venue, which was the Kursk Technical University. Repeating content of first seminar and Koryu dai san 50 techniques. Also content of second seminar revue of previous seminar. |

Tuesday August 4th Content of fourth seminar was explanation of competition rules and practicing how to apply these. And grading from 5th kyu to 1st dan at which all members took part. |

Here again it was Uno Sensei's opinion that the standard of
the players would improve very quickly by following the instructions
he had provided. These were Uno Sensei was very impressed with the attitude and cooperation of the Moscow and Kursk teachers and their students. |
