Preface
This essay is philosophical writing, though it primary inquires into Japanese society and culture, because I had to investigate general theory of human communications and society emerging from it, in order to make clear the sense ofe the Japanese '. Till now many books about Japanese have been published, but they always show only its uniqueness or insist on Japanese peculiarity. But Japan is a nation composed of individual human beings, and however Japanese seems strange for many people, their way of behavior must be expressed by generality that all human beings have. In the culture, tradition and customs etc., there are many things hard to understand for other people, but it does not mean Japanese character is out of generality of human beings. If we abandon to express its peculiarity by human common generality, we will lose the chance to insight the deeper human characters that have never been found. Because we can get more general principle by research more special examples.
For this purpose, I will show the fundamental theory
of human communications.
