アフガニスタンのほぼ中央部にあるバンディ・アミール湖は、その美しさと透明度から
「砂漠の真珠」の異名を持っているそうです。

アフガニスタンは北部と南西部に僅かの平地がるだけの山岳国です。
（昔は広い平地の領土があったそうですが、パキスタンを植民地としていたイギリスに剥ぎ取られてしまったそうです？）
