The town on the shores of Lake Annecy is also known as the "Pearl
of the French Alps" and is a place where you can see magnificent nature.
The lake is said to be the clearest in Europe.
Lech, Austria, a village with a spectacular view of the Alps, has been called "the
most beautiful village in Europe" and is counted among the "pearls
of the Alps"
due to the various innovations that have been made in the villages of the
Austrian Alps. Vehicles are prohibited from passing through the village.(A
village without roads for cars)
This is one of Slovenia's most famous tourist destinations, and is beautifully known as the "Eye of the Alps." The lake is home to the country's only small island, which makes
it a spectacular spot.
The oasis city of Ghadames, located near the borders of Libya, Algeria, and Tunisia, is known as the "Pearl of the Desert" and is a beautiful landscape
lined with pure white buildings.
It is a vast lake, 46 times the size of Lake Biwako, and the deepest in
the world at over 1,700m. It is also known as the "Pearl of Siberia"
and, along with the Galapagos Islands,
as a "museum of biological evolution."
Issy-Kul, located on a plateau at an altitude of 1,600m, is nine times
larger than Lake Biwako and is called the "Pearl of Central Asia"
and the "Sea of Kyrgyzstan."
During the Soviet era, foreigners were prohibited from entering and it
was also called the "Phantom Lake."
Yangon (formerly Rangoon, Burma), Myanmar, which was under British rule in the past, was a beautiful place known
as the "Park City of the East,"
with vast parks and lakes that combined modern and traditional architecture.
Another famous city in Europe is Budapest (Hungary), known as the "Pearl of the Danube" for the many historical
buildings from the heyday of the Hausburg dynasty that remain
and match the beautiful scenery of the Danube River.
Ukraine is said to be a beautiful country that has been influenced more by Europe
than the former Soviet Union. I hope that it will remain a peaceful and
beautiful country without suffering misfortunes
such as division. Odessa, a city on the Black Sea coast, is said to have
beautiful scenery that has earned it the nickname "Pearl of Europe"
or "Pearl of the Black Sea."
As you know, Cuba is a "Red Island in the Caribbean" that was discovered by Columbus,
who mistakenly thought it was the American continent. At the time, Columbus
called it
"the most beautiful continent in the world" and was an island
of passion.
Latvia is the central country of the Baltic States, and was the first of the three Baltic states to develop an independence
movement in the 1990s, gaining independence in 1991.
Its capital, Riga, faces the Baltic Sea, and its beautiful scenery has
earned it the nickname "Pearl of the Baltic Sea."
There are many places in Europe that are called "Pearls of ___",
but it seems that there is no other city that is more suited to pearls
than the World Heritage city of Croatia.
I've never been there, so I have no real experience or knowledge to compare it to other places. The scenery of the old city of Dubrovnik is also known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic"
French Polynesia occupies a vast area of islands in the South Pacific. (And there are three DXCC entities here.) Tahiti, the island at the center of the territory, is known throughout the world
as the "tropical paradise" beloved by the painter Gauguin. And
this strangely named island of Bora Bora is said to be an even more scenic
tourist destination, known as the
"Pearl of the Pacific or South Pacific."
The Seychelles is a small island nation in the western Indian Ocean, more than 1,000 km from both the African continent and Madagascar. The nation is committed to protecting
the natural environment, and the country is also known as "the last
paradise on earth." As an aside, an acquaintance who visited the island
complained that prices were very high.
He also said that although the country is based on resort tourism, it seems
that the national policy is not welcomed by many people.
Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) means "the shining island". The tropical island
with beautiful scenery and lush greenery is said to be "the most wonderful
place in the world" by Marco Polo
in the 13th century. It is the second largest producer of black tea in the world after India.
Located southwest of India in the Indian Ocean, the Maldives is also known as the "String of Pearls" and is an archipelago nation made up of over 1,200 beautiful coral reef islands. It is a tourist destination known for being a "Jewel studded by God," "A garland of islands," and "A blue paradise." It seems like a truly wonderful place.
Yoron Island, which is being marketed as the "Pearl of the Orient"
and is run by the JA, is located at the southernmost tip of the Amami Islands in Kyushu, about
23 km
from the main island of Okinawa.
Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) in Viet Nam developed rapidly as part of French Indochina and was known by fashionable nicknames such as "Pearl of the Far East" or "Paris of the Orient."
That island, Penang, is now known as the "Pearl of the Orient"
and is a popular tourist destination, bustling with tourists from JA I've
never been there, so I can't imagine what a wonderful place it is.
Hong Kong in the 20th century under British rule was one of the world's most picturesque tourist destinations with its
remarkable economic development, but now that it has been returned
to the China, the luster of the pearl may have dulled a little due to various topics.
I once visited Hong Kong several times for a CM, and I still vividly remember the deliciousness
of
the authentic Cantonese cuisine, as well as the million-dollar night view.
During the Spanish colonial period, Manila was a beautiful city filled
with flowers and greenery, and was literally worthy of being called the
"Pearl of the Orient." Manila, which I had visited
several times in CM, was known as the "3K" area and seemed like
a place that had lost its former "Pearl of the..."image.

自然のマッチした美しい景色が残るマルタなどが「地中海の真珠」と形容されているそうです。
その他にも、太陽と海のリゾート地でスペイン領マジョルカ島、イタリア沿岸のカプリ島、エジプトの沿岸都市アレクサンドリアの美しい景観なども「地中海の真珠」と
呼ばれているそうです。

セーシェル諸島は、アフリカ大陸とマダガスカル島から、それぞれ１，０００ｋｍ以上離れた西インド洋上の小さな島嶼国家です。
自然環境の保護に国家を上げて取り組み、またの名を「地上最後の楽園」とも歌われています。余談になりますが、ここを訪れた知人の話に
よると、物価がとても高かったとボヤいておりました。リゾート観光立国ながら、大勢の人は歓迎しない国策でもあるらしいとも言っていました。
・ボラボラ島（フランス領ポリネシア） Bora Bora(French Polynesia
南太平洋の島々を広大な領域にまたがって占有するフランス領ポリネシアがあります。（そして、ここにはDXCCエンティティが3か所もあります。）
その中心になるタヒチ島は、画家ゴーギャンが愛した「南国の楽園」として世界中に知られています。
そして、このボラボラ島と言う変な名の島は、「太平洋あるいは南太平洋の真珠」として、一段と風光明媚な観光地になっているそうです。
・スリランカ Sri Lanka
スリランカ（旧セイロン）は、その意味を「光り輝く島」と言うそうです。
美しい景観と緑豊かな熱帯の島は、１３世紀マルコポーロが「世界で一番素晴らしい場所」と言ったそうです。紅茶の生産量はインド に次いで
世界第２位です。
・香港 Hong Kong
英国の統治下にあった２０世紀の香港は、その目覚ましい経済発展で世界を代表する景勝の観光地のようでしたが、かの国に返還された今は
いろいろな話題で真珠の輝きが少々鈍っているのかもしれません? かの地へはある時期CMで数度立ち寄ったことがありますが、百万ドル夜景も
さることながら、本場広東料理の美味は未だにしかと記憶に残っています。
・ホーチミン市 (ベトナム）旧サイゴン市 Ho Chi Minh City (Viet Nam) Old Saigon City
ベトナムのホーチミン市（旧サイゴン）は、フランス領インドシナとして急速に発展し「極東の真珠」あるいは「東洋のパリ」などおしゃれな
代名詞があったそうです。
・マニラ（フィリピン） Manila(Philippines)
スペイン統治時代のマニラは、花と緑あふれた美しい都市として、文字通り「東洋の真珠」にふさわしい地であったそうです。
CMで幾度か立ち寄ったマニラは、いわゆる３Kと呼ばれ、真珠の面影は見られない地のようでした。
（交信証の背景は、有名なマニラ湾の夕日だそうですが、残念ながらこのような景色も見たことがありません。）
